A Mouse For Ecomaniacs

If you were asked to name the person who had invented electricity, you’d probably say it was Benjamin Franklin who flew his kite during a thunderstorm. Yet, experts say that there was a whole range of scientists who contributed to this discovery, and that Franklin discovered only the interrelation between lightning and electricity.

Singaporean developers have now found interrelation between laptop heat and a laptop mouse and have presented a concept mouse that doesn’t need to be recharged. A special mouse pad that is placed under the laptop collects excessive heat and miraculously turns it into electricity, which is used to power this DORmino mouse. Thanks to magical silicon nanowires, it promises to provide us with 100% eco-friendly mouse.

This being a mouse however, friendship will most likely be a quick, one-sided affair. Replaced by hate when the mouse stops working because the window is open and there is not enough heat around. And you will have to boil it in a kettle, and then roast over fire a bit, until it becomes black and smelly and you throw it out of the window along with the magical nanowire mouse-pad.

This is what can happen when a simple and effective device is replaced by a complicated and expensive one, even for the noble cause of saving polar bears. There is a difference between being eco-friendly and eco-obsessed, and DORmino looks more like the second.
